We are excited to announce that The Forgetting of Air will be part of EXPLO #5: City of Tongues / Langues / Tongen / ألسنة, organized by Needcompany.

EXPLO is a special day in which Needcompany’s home transforms into a field of artistic interference: performances, sonic interventions, and rituals intertwine in the space—no stage, no set path, no explanations.

The Forgetting of Air unfolds from testimonies, voices, and silences collected with newcomers from Cinemaximiliaan, a platform connecting newcomers and local residents through cinema, collective art projects, and shared storytelling.

In the performance, audience and performers share air and presence: breathing, the body’s first autonomous act, marks the beginning of life and its fading signals its end. Performers, whose lives are shaped by migration or who work alongside migrant communities, move through a space thick with breathe together with the audience. Their breaths, amplified by megaphones, merge and dissolve into the hiss of escaping voices.

The performance will be presented as well on Sunday 19 october @ Cinemaximilian, rue de Manchester 36  Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels.
