MAXXI - Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, Rome (IT)
Conceived as an "open repository," the Collection's new layout showcases the experimentation of the most current creative scene, among the most recent acquisitions, great masters and younger generations. Fuori tutto recounts the vitality and plurality of Italian and international artistic research among art, architecture, photography, video, sound experimentation and documentation materials.
This exhibition will feature the installation The Forgetting of Air (Francesca Grilli, 2023), acquired this year by the museum. In the performance The Forgetting of Air, the material shared between the audience and the performance is air. Starting from a research around the figures at the margins of society, the work grounds in the idea of air as territory of exchange and as a reflection on the contemporary migration processes. The performers are refugees who left their countries risking, in some cases, their life. They share with the audience their breath as a flow of meaning.
