La Piena, by Francesca Grilli and Azzurra D’Agostino, develops from the ancient tradition of river stones as markers of water levels, memory and warning.
The artists create a series of stones engraved with poems dedicated to floods and extreme drought. Temporarily borrowed from the river, each stone becomes a space where sculptural practice and poetry meet, carrying a trace of the relationship between water, landscape and human communities.
For Connecting Worlds 2026, some of the engraved stones will be temporarily removed from their river context and presented inside the Ferrino tent, bringing fragments of a river landscape into dialogue with the public. After the intervention, the stones will be returned to the river, completing a cycle of listening, transformation and restitution.
